In marketing, advertising, and social media, you come across a lot of all of these people. So how can you tell the difference?
“Practitioners” are the ones who actually use it for its intended purpose.
“Professionals” are the ones who find a way to make money from it.
True “experts” are the ones who can make it into something new. However, they never call themselves that because they see the potential to do more with it than they’re capable of doing now. So they can never truly be an “expert” in it.
If you come across anyone who does say they’re an “expert” you can usually call them by another name… a “hack.”
