CONCEPT: Mise En Place Marketing

Think about how long it takes you to cook a meal from start to finish. Even “30 minute meals” usually end up taking nearly an hour, in actual practice. Imagine cooking 10 to 100 various dishes at the same time and you have to get it out in less than half an hour or people start complaining.

That’s the reality of every restaurant line cook.

How do they do it? How are they able to possibly deal with producing that many meals in a small space with huge time pressure?

The answer is a concept called “mise en place.”

“Mise en place,” means “to put in place.” In essence, it’s about preparing and gathering all the ingredients of a dish and the tools you’ll be using beforehand, so that you have everything you need when you’re ready to cook. A well organized kitchen makes everything more efficient. And nearly every chef would say that it would be impossible to run a restaurant without this ingrained into their workflow.

Try using this in all of your marketing efforts.

Set up the following so you’ll be ready for all the things you need to do.

Value Proposition: An easy formula is:
For [target customer], who are looking for [problem you’re trying to solve], we provide [benefit]. Unlike [competitors], we [competitive advantage].

Case Studies / Testimonials: Have a minimum of 3-5 stories about how customers benefitted from your product.

Fun Facts: Have about 5 truly interesting and unique things to say about your product or service that would be intriguing even for people who don’t need it. Actually come up with about 10 and then ask a friend outside of your industry which are actually interesting.

Imagery: Take 25 photos of your company, product or service in interesting and out-of-the-ordinary positions or perspectives. It can just be with your Smartphone. These will come in handy whenever you need something to post your social media accounts.

Tutorials: Outline the steps for 5 ways people can get the most out of your product or how they can use it in unconventional ways. You can use these in social media, after you make a sale or as a take away.
